ARTEMISIA opened its doors in March 2002 in Taos, New Mexico. The store was named Artemisia in recognition of the Italian painter Artemisia Gentileschi (1593-1652).
The original owner retired and the store was purchased by Yvonne Swartz in April, 2015. Headed into her 6th season in Taos, Yvonne continues to feature a collection of fine handwovens and wearable art  that make Artemisia a favorite destination for fiber arts lovers from around the world.
Yvonne grew up in central Pennsylvania and lived on the North Shore of Boston, MA, for 10 years before moving to New Mexico in 1992. She
has a strong graphic design and publishing background and has been a small business owner for most of her working life. She left a full-time management position in 2013 to explore other career interests and considers it kismet that she landed in Taos as owner of Artemisia.
Yvonne enjoys trail running, hiking, cross-country skiing, and gardening. She is looking forward to many outdoor adventures in beautiful Taos and northern New Mexico!

Thank you for browsing the website. We appreciate your interest and hope to welcome you one of these days to Taos and to Artemisia. You can also preview many of our wearable art pieces in our Online Store.
