Meredith Strauss

Meredith’s love of textiles began in childhood, learning to knit and crochet from her grandmother. She earned her undergraduate degree from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1978, with additional textile studies in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and Stockholm, Sweden. She later completed her master’s degree at the University of California, Los Angeles, with research travel to Peru and Bolivia.

Meredith has exhibited large-scale weavings nationally and internationally, including in Japan, Switzerland, the Philippines, Turkey, and Korea. Her work is included in private, public, and corporate collections, including AT&T, Hilton Hotels, Hallmark Cards, Chevron, Stanford University, and the Rhode Island School of Design.

In addition to her studio practice, Meredith has taught textiles, weaving, textile design, and world textiles at several colleges. A highlight of her teaching career has been leading travel-abroad courses to Italy, Turkey, Thailand, and Uzbekistan.
